2017 BYC Opti and Advanced Race Race Team Membership Levels

Level 1 Race Team Membership (Opti, Laser, FJ and 29er) – $250 (a $50 savings over last year)

Level 1 is a six week program beginning the week of June 27 that includes the following:

  • Two 2-1/2 hour practice days a week (Opti and FJ)
  • Two 4 hour practice days a week (Laser and 29er)
  • Tuesday night racing
  • NWYRC summer regattas

Practice is held Monday and Thursday with all boat class’s available.  Class times are:

  • Laser and 29er practice – 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Opti and FJ practice – 4:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday night racing’s first start is at 6:00 p.m., rig boats at 4:30 p.m.

Support boat on Tuesday nights and coach support at all seven NWYRC summer regattas (race entry and travel not included, minimum of 3 participants for coach support at away regattas).

Level 2 race team membership – $475 (a $25 savings*)

Level 2 includes Level 1 plus your choice of one of two 5-day race clinics held

  • June 19-23
  • July 31-August 4

Level 3 race team membership – $650 (a $100 savings*)

Level 3 includes Level 1 plus both 5-day race clinics held

  • June 19-23
  • July 31-August 4

Special 4-day pre-NW USODA Championships Opti Camp – $200

The Opti Camp will be held Aug. 14-17 and is open to all Opti racers training to do well at the regional champs with the hope to go to USODA Team Trials and all Opti racers wanting to improve their Opti skills and learn our local waters.

Sailing Foundation Coach Andrew Nelson and Gavin Brackett will run race practices Monday through Thursday with a rest day on Friday so everyone is fresh for the big event. Travelling coaches welcome, please let us know if you need RIB space on one of our floats.

Pre–Summer Laser Team Practices – $20 a day

Laser practice are held weekly on Fridays at 3:00 p.m. starting March 12 through June 16. These are 3-4 hour practices geared towards Laser boat handling and racing.

Pre-Summer 29er Team Practices-$20 a day

29er practices are held weekly on Mondays at 3:00 p.m. starting May 15 through June 12. These are 3-4 hour practices geared towards Skiff boat handling and tuning up for anyone wishing to participate in The U.S. Junior Double-handed Championship qualifier for the Bemis Trophy to be held at Shilshole Marina (Seattle) on June 10-11.
