Welcome to the BYC Youth Sailing Program
The Bellingham Yacht Club (BYC) offers youth sailing classes as a not for profit and self-supported community boating program. The BYC’s youth sailing program provides kids ages of 8 -18 the opportunity to learn sailing on Bellingham Bay from U.S. Sailing certified instructors. Membership in the BYC is not required to participate in the BYC’s youth sailing classes.
The Youth Sailing Program is very active and includes summer sailing and racing classes taught by US Sailing certified instructors, weekly dinghy racing, a Youth Club which sponsors many social activities and a youth fun room with a pool table, ping pong table, electric darts, air hockey table and a Foosball table. For youths interested in racing at the high school level, BYC is the primary sponsor of the Whatcom Community High School Sailing Team formed in 2008.
April – June 2014
The BYC Youth Sailing Program, which has provided sailing instruction to 85 to 100 local students per year, ages 8 – 12, over the last five years will be hosting a Steak Dinner and Silent Auction on April 26, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. The proceeds of Dinner and Auction will be used for upgrades to the 18 foot inflatable Safety Boat, affectionately known as ‘Prime Rib’.
Please join us for an evening of Food, Fun and Auction excitement. Donations are being solicited from BYC members, local businesses, artists, musicians and more. This event is open to members and non-member guests who will be able to enjoy all of the amenities of your Club. This will also be an opportunity for non-members to view the extensive renovations that have been made to the downstairs Youth Lounge area.
Dinner is $35.00 per person for BBQ Tri Tip steak, Caesar salad, baked Potato bar and dessert. Tickets are available for purchase via the BYC website by clicking the “Buy Tickets” button above (available only if you have opened the full view of the event) or by clicking the “Sign Up” link in the Featured Upcoming Events section in the column on the right.
