Welcome to the BYC Youth Sailing Program
The Bellingham Yacht Club (BYC) offers youth sailing classes as a not for profit and self-supported community boating program. The BYC’s youth sailing program provides kids ages of 8 -18 the opportunity to learn sailing on Bellingham Bay from U.S. Sailing certified instructors. Membership in the BYC is not required to participate in the BYC’s youth sailing classes.
The Youth Sailing Program is very active and includes summer sailing and racing classes taught by US Sailing certified instructors, weekly dinghy racing, a Youth Club which sponsors many social activities and a youth fun room with a pool table, ping pong table, electric darts, air hockey table and a Foosball table. For youths interested in racing at the high school level, BYC is the primary sponsor of the Whatcom Community High School Sailing Team formed in 2008.

April 30th 2016 will be the date for our annual Youth Fleet Silent Auction night. The event was well attended last year and raised enough funds to purchase new Opti Sailboats.
As all boat owners are well aware there is always something else demanding attention and funds. This year we are building our fleet by purchasing a better coaching boat and boat parts.
The race team will be competing at every regatta in the Northwest in 2016 and we are also looking to put a large trailer together so we can haul sail and coach boats to the races.
